Ginger Bread Man Father Day Recipe
Here's a neat idea for a father day recipe. To summarise it in a few words its about making a ginger bread man and then tailoring it to suit the father it is made for. Read on below for details - Just make sure this one doesn't run away :-)
Father day recipe stage one: Make a gingerbread man.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup condensed milk
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
Cream the butter and sugar. Add everything else. Roll out and press shapes, bake in moderate oven 12-15 minutes.
Note: You can either use a bought cookie cutter if you have one, or just press it into shape. One way to make this easier would be to draw an outline on some grease proof paper or lunch wrap and fit the mixture into the outline.
Father day recipe stage two: Customise!
Time to talk to the kids for inspiration on this one. Ask them about their dad - what do *they* see their dad liking. What characterises 'dad' to them? Maybe he likes fishing. Perhaps he has a favourite hat. Does he have a favourite topic of conversation? A favourite place to go. Try and find somthing that the *kids* perceive about their dad.
Okay, now for a bit of imagination. Decorate the ginger bread man along a theme based on what your kids see in Dad. Some ideas for starters...
